You read that correctly. Rain today has definitely prevented picking, and it looks like we’ll be wet most of the hours through early Saturday afternoon. Today has been spent making granola and restocking chai mix. There’s one more batch of granola to go in later, but I’ll also prep ingredients for baking zucchini bread and fruit crisps for Sunday morning. Tomorrow will be done in reverse order: baking in the morning and picking in the afternoon. It doesn’t feel like a Friday, tomorrow will be backwards, Sunday will be the farmstand – what a weird weekend 🙂
Here’s my wild guess on what we’ll have Sunday morning:
Tomatoes! Slicers of all sizes and varieties
Cherry tomatoes
Salad tomatoes
San Marzano tomatoes
Peppers! Bell, banana, Carmen, jalapeno
Broccoli – just a few regular heads
Beans are a wildcard – they’re doing better since it cooled, but the plants need to be dry for me to pick
Onions
Beets
Zucchini – I’ll check them
Yellow squash – the original plants gave up, so we’re waiting for the little ones to grow up
Cucumbers – of course!
Granola: Maple Applesauce, Almond Blueberry, Strawberry, Banana Nut (with broken pieces of banana chips instead of the inconsistent mashed banana)
Zucchini bread
Cherry Berry crisps
Chai latte mix
Jams – remember there’s a fresh batch of low sugar peach, peach jalapeno & raspberry jalapeno
Dill relish
Seasoned salts – regular, spicy, rosemary
Fresh herbs: Italian parsley, sage, cilantro, thyme, oregano, Mexican oregano
If you have a special request, please get it to me ASAP so it fits in to all the stop & go, backwards, and unusual timing of things. Hope to see all of you Sunday morning!
