I’ve been picking, washing, baking, and all the usual Friday things. Today, we needed to make time to repair the tractor (the part arrived late last night), so I’m a little behind schedule. Nothing has been weighed or packaged, but it’ll all get done. No pre-orders tonight, please

Please note that I’d like to close up at 11:30. As soon as lunch is finished, I’ve got to get down to Rescued in Silvis to restock some things in my display and drop off a raffle basket for them. And, there are some things that need attention outside when I get home. That extra 30 minutes should make sure that I get to Rescued early enough to make a difference.

Sunday, a friend is coming over to help me have a plant pulling party. Not really a party, but some of the big tomatoes that are finished are easier with another pair of hands. Today’s tomato picking cleans out many of the plants. These are the last of the salad and San Marzano tomatoes for certain. There are still some slicers and heirlooms coming, if they can ripen in the shorter days. There may be a few more pounds of cherry tomatoes and Romas coming next week, too.

Cucumbers didn’t get pulled a couple weeks ago because it rained and then again on that Sunday, so I have a handful of weird shaped cucumbers, but they will get pulled this weekend to hopefully signal to the squash bugs to take a hike! Insect pressure continues to be high and there are cucumber beetles and squash bugs looking for food in all the crops and it’s frustrating. The organic control has not been very successful on these hardy insects.

There are a few new things for tomorrow, and quite a bit of baking took place this week!
