I’m going out now to pick a few flowers & fillers and some fresh herbs. Let’s hope that the rain skips us today! Please come and get some tomatoes for your freezer – the harvests will start to taper off from this point. Sad, I know, but it’s been a decent season considering how hot and the lack of attention they were given. I’m not saying that we won’t have tomatoes! Everything got some organic amendments and compost yesterday with a good drink of water. The plants have small tomatoes and flowers, so we’re trying to take good care of them so these will ripen and reach your table. Peppers are all flowering like crazy. There’s no doubt in my mind that they prefer slightly cooler temps and the shorter days really get them shifting into higher production. I’ve left quite a bit more on the plants today in hopes of bigger peppers and some are turning red, so this allows them the extra time they need to turn red.
